Rashes

A longer period without a nappy change, the start of baby foods, hot weather, increased mobility, diarrhoea ... and many other times in the life of your child can lead to sore skin. Doctors call these sores nappy dermatitis or, more commonly, nappy rash.

Nappy rash is an inflammation of the skin, which is accompanied by redness, including skin weeping and sometimes blisters in the sensitive areas under the nappy. Unfortunately, this can cause extreme discomfort for the young patients.

Lighter breakouts can usually be managed by parents, preferably using products purchased in a pharmacy. If redness persists for some time without improvement, it is always a good idea to visit a paediatrician, or go directly to a paediatric dermatologist. Only the trained eye of a doctor can diagnose the condition of dermatitis and its form – and then prescribe adequate and effective treatment.
